MARTIN, Tenn. – Sarah Candeloro, who recently completed her senior campaign on the University of Tennessee at Martin tennis squad, earned a spot on the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Academic All-District At-Large team.
Candeloro was one of 11 honorees in District 3, which covers 26 different sports for Division-I colleges and universities in North Carolina, Tennessee and Virginia. She will advance to the CoSIDA Academic All-America team ballot, where first-, second- and third-team All-America honorees will be selected later this month.
A Dover, Del. native, Candeloro recently graduated from UT Martin with a 3.96 Grade Point Average while double majoring in accounting and finance. She accomplished a perfect 4.0 GPA in seven of her eight semesters, earning a pair of Ohio Valley Conference Medals of Honor and three OVC Commissioner’s Honor Roll awards.
On the court, Candeloro was a three-time All-OVC honoree and became just the third player in program history to tally All-OVC first team accolades in back-to-back seasons (2016, 2017). Her 162 combined victories rank fourth in program history while her 85 singles wins (second) and 77 doubles wins (fifth) also rank in the top-five in Skyhawk tennis history.
Candeloro racked up a team-high 25 singles wins in 2016-17, including a 7-2 mark against OVC opponents. She also added a 20-5 record in doubles with an unblemished 8-0 record in OVC play.
