MARTIN, Tenn. - The University of Tennessee at Martin men's basketball program generated one of the best seasons in program history in 2016-17 under head coach Anthony Stewart. Below are some accolades that the Skyhawks produced last season:

*The Skyhawks' 22 wins equaled the school record for most single-season victories, tying the amount of wins that the 2008-09 Ohio Valley Conference championship team produced

*UT Martin became the only OVC school to win at least one postseason game in each of the last three seasons

*The Skyhawks posted their third straight 20-win season, a feat that had never been accomplished before at UT Martin. The Skyhawks’ 63 victories over the last three seasons are the most in any three-year span in program history

*UT Martin shattered the school's single-season record in points (2,693), field goals (966), rebounds (1,312) and assists (555)

*The Skyhawks won their fifth postseason game in the last three years, downing UNC Asheville by an 89-75 margin on March 16. UT Martin led by as many as 21 points and never trailed against a UNC Asheville squad that had the highest RPI (73) in the 26-team Postseason Tournament

*UT Martin won its first-ever outright OVC West division championship in 2016-17, a year after sharing the school’s first OVC West division title

*The Skyhawks advanced to the OVC Tournament championship game in each of the past two seasons, a feat that had not been accomplished in school history

*Head coach Anthony Stewart was selected as one of 21 finalists for the 2017 Ben Jobe National Coach of the Year Award, given annually to the nation's top Division-I minority head coach

*UT Martin accounted for the most All-OVC honorees of any team in the league, boasting Jacolby Mobley (All-OVC first team), Javier Martinez (All-OVC second team) and Matthew Butler (OVC All-Newcomer)

*Senior forward Javier Martinez ranked third in Division-I basketball in field goal percentage (.671, 167-of-249)

*Of the 29 first-year head coaches in Division-I basketball, Anthony Stewart’s 22 wins were the third-highest total – trailing only New Mexico State’s Paul Weir (28) and Valparaiso’s Matt Lottich (24)

*The Skyhawks’ 14 home wins are the most in UT Martin’s Division-I Era (since 1992) and are the most since the 1987-88 team won 15 home games

*UT Martin’s 10 nonconference wins were tied for the most in program history alongside the 1986-87, 1983-84 and 1975-76 teams. The Skyhawks posted an impressive nonconference win at Atlantic 10 Conference member Duquesne on Nov. 23 and also played at No. 1 Kentucky on Nov. 25

*Jacolby Mobley earned National Association of Basketball Coaches All-District 19 accolades, finishing just three points shy of the OVC scoring title in conference play

*Javier Martinez became the first Skyhawk in the school’s Division-I history (since 1992) to tally at least 20 points and 20 rebounds in a single game when he provided 22 points and 21 rebounds at Tennessee Tech on Feb. 1

*Kedar Edwards became just the third UT Martin player in school history to amass a triple-double when he posted 15 points, 11 assists and 10 rebounds against Bethune-Cookman on Dec. 17
