FELDHAUS AND SPRAY GARNER A PAIR OF ADIDAS OVC PLAYER OF THE WEEK HONORS

BRENTWOOD, Tenn. – The University of Tennessee at Martin women’s basketball team saw junior forward Ashton Feldhaus and freshman guard Kendall Spray honored as adidas Ohio Valley Conference Newcomer and Freshman of the Week, respectively, after a pair of strong performances against Eastern Illinois and SIUE over the past week.
Feldhaus earned her fourth OVC Newcomer of the Week honor after averaging 18.5 points, 5.0 rebounds and 2.0 assists in a pair of contests last week. She won the weekly honor for the second consecutive week after tallying 19 points and six rebounds at Eastern Illinois. She continued that with 18 points, four rebounds and three assists against SIUE – including a three-pointer at the end of regulation to tie the game at the buzzer and force overtime.
A native of Richmond, Ky., Feldhaus is averaging 9.5 points and 4.5 rebounds per game. Feldhaus has eclipsed double figures 11 times this season, including a three-game stretch which has seen her average 19 points per game.
Spray notched her second OVC Freshman of the Week honor after leading the OVC in scoring over the past week with 56 total points – averaging 28 points per game. Along with her high scoring average, Spray averaged 5.5 rebounds, 3.5 steals and 1.5 assists per game while shooting 54.2 percent from beyond the arc. Spray began the best week of her young Skyhawk career against Eastern Illinois where she scored a career-high 33 points – including eight three-pointers which ranked as the second best single-game performance in the OVC this season. She would follow up that performance with 23 points, five rebounds and three steals against SIUE.
Hailing from Lebanon, Tenn., Spray has scored 20 points or more in three of the last four contest while ranking as the team’s leading scorer with 12.9 points per game – and 16.4 ppg in league play. Her 62 made three-pointers rank second in the OVC and 15th nationally.
After seeing three of its last four games reach overtime, UT Martin will look to close out its homestand strong with a matchup against OVC foe Austin Peay on Wednesday, Jan. 25. Tipoff from the Elam Center is scheduled for 6 p.m.
