SKYHAWK MEN BEGIN THREE-GAME HOMESTAND SATURDAY AGAINST SOUTHEAST MISSOURI

MARTIN, Tenn. - The University of Tennessee at Martin men’s basketball squad begins a string of home dates when it hosts fellow Ohio Valley Conference West foe Southeast Missouri on Saturday, Jan. 14. Tipoff from the Kathleen and Tom Elam Center is set for approximately 6 p.m., following the completion of the Skyhawk women’s basketball game.
These two teams have split each of the last six meetings while the Skyhawks boast a 23-13 all-time mark against Southeast Missouri at home. UT Martin has won its last two games by an average of 15.0 points against the Redhawks in the Elam Center.
Last season, Kedar Edwards averaged 14.0 points and 17.5 rebounds per game against Southeast Missouri. He tallied 18 points and 14 rebounds in the 68-60 overtime setback in Cape Girardeau before racking up 10 points and a career-best 21 rebounds (the most for a UT Martin player since 1980) in the 77-64 home win.
The Skyhawks (11-8, 1-3 OVC) are coming off a tough road swing in Nashville, falling 83-67 at Belmont and 76-65 at Tennessee State. Jacolby Mobley averaged 15.5 points per game during last week’s road games while Fatodd Lewis and Matthew Butler each tossed in 12.5 points per outing for UT Martin, who ranks fourth out of 347 Division-I teams in total rebounding (734).
Southeast Missouri (7-12, 2-2 OVC) is coming off an 83-78 home win over previously OVC unbeaten Tennessee Tech on Tuesday. In that game, the Redhawks led by as many as 20 points midway through the second half before holding on for the victory, connecting on 60.5 percent (26-for-43) of its field goal attempts for the game.
Preseason All-OVC honoree Antonius Cleveland dialed up game-highs of 24 points and seven rebounds in the win over Tennessee Tech, shooting a perfect 9-for-9 from the field. He ranks fifth nationally in both field goals made (129) and minutes played (634) for a Southeast Missouri team that ranks 10th in the nation in steals (149).
