TOM BRITT INDUCTED INTO TENNESSEE JOURNALISM HALL OF FAME

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. – Tom Britt, a veteran broadcaster with the Skyhawk Radio Network and West Tennessee broadcasting legend, was enshrined into the Tennessee Journalism Hall of Fame during a banquet and awards ceremony held at the Murfreesboro Association of Realtors Training Center on Thursday.
Britt was one of five inductees in the Class of 2016, which also included Hudley Crockett, the late Monte Hale, Sr., John Hood and Darrell Patterson.
Britt is currently in his 36th year with the Skyhawk Radio Network, where he serves as the play-by-play analyst for UT Martin football and women’s basketball games. He also provides color analysis on Skyhawk men’s basketball contests.
Known as a consummate professional, Britt has been a mainstay in the West Tennessee electronic media field for over 40 years. He spent 21 years in radio with area stations working news, announcing and sportscasting. He is currently in his 20th year at WBBJ 7 Eyewitness News, an ABC/CBS television affiliate located in Jackson, Tenn.
During his time at WBBJ, Britt has reported, anchored and produced Midday and ABC Seven Eyewitness News at Five and Six. He currently anchors and produces the Midday, Noon and 5 p.m. newscasts.
