MARTIN, Tenn. - The University of Tennessee at Martin men’s basketball squad closes out a three-game homestand and begins its participation in the Bluegrass Showcase when it hosts the Cleveland State Vikings out of the Horizon League on Friday, Nov. 18. Tipoff time from the Kathleen and Tom Elam Center is set for 7 p.m.

The Skyhawks’ next four games are part of the Bluegrass Showcase, an exempt non-bracketed multi-team event. In its 65 seasons of sponsoring men’s basketball, UT Martin has only played one game against a participating team in a Bluegrass Showcase field that includes Cleveland State, Canisius, Duquesne and Kentucky.

The Skyhawks (2-1) will look to cap off an undefeated homestand after victories over UT Rio Grande Valley (88-80) and Cumberland (95-64) earlier this week. A big key to UT Martin’s early season success has been its long range accuracy and its unselfish play, as the Skyhawks rank third nationally in both three-point field goals made (11.3 per game) and assists (21 per game).

In UT Martin’s win over Cumberland on Tuesday, Kedar Edwards established a new career-high in scoring with 23 points. Jacolby Mobley (19 points), Fatodd Lewis (13 points, career-best seven rebounds) and Javier Martinez (10 points, nine rebounds, career-high six assists) also reached double-figures in the scoring column for the Skyhawks, who shot 56.7 percent from the floor.

Cleveland State (1-1) is coming off its first win of the season, a 67-64 home victory over Canisius on Tuesday. All five Viking starters tallied double-digits in scoring, led by Preseason All-Horizon League honoree Rob Edwards’ 17 points. Bobby Word chipped in 14 points while Kasheem Thomas compiled 10 points, seven assists (against zero turnovers) and six rebounds. Derek Sloan and Jibri Blount also added 10 points apiece for Cleveland State, who overcame a five-point halftime deficit by shooting 51.7 percent over the final 20 minutes.
