MARTIN, Tenn. – The University of Tennessee at Martin football team conducted its fourth and final scrimmage of fall camp this evening at Hardy Graham Stadium.
Tonight’s practice was the 21st of the fall for the Skyhawks, who have six more practices remaining before their season-opener at the University of Kentucky on Saturday, Aug. 30.
Tonight’s practice emphasized situational environments that the Skyhawks will face on game day. UT Martin spent considerable time fine-tuning their special teams play while also working on red zone situations.
“The main point for tonight was preparation for substitutions, special teams situations and all the different things that may come up in a game,” Skyhawk head coach Jason Simpson said. “This is the time of year that you cover those things. When you have 45 upperclassmen – they’ve seen it before and they know the drill so I was pleased.”
UT Martin will officially begin their game week calendar tomorrow (Aug. 24) before departing for Lexington, Ky. on Friday, Aug. 29.
“We are looking forward to starting game preparation,” Simpson said. “School is here – it’s been a very good three weeks of camp. We’re a little nicked up but we will get some of those guys back this week.”
