UTM FOOTBALL SELECTED FIFTH IN OVC PRESEASON FOOTBALL MEDIA POLL

MARTIN, Tenn. – The University of Tennessee at Martin football team has been chosen fifth in the Ohio Valley Conference Preseason Football Media Poll, which was announced this morning.
This is the first time in recent history that the OVC has conducted a media poll prior to the start of the season. In total, 14 voters from around the league cast a ballot on who they thought would be the 2014 football favorites and preseason players of the year.
The OVC will release its preseason poll and All-OVC team, as voted on by league head coaches and sports information directors, next Monday, July 21 during the league’s annual Media Day in Nashville.
UT Martin received 77 points in the media poll, just two points behind fourth-place Eastern Kentucky. Jacksonville State (118 points), Tennessee State (113) and Eastern Illinois (98) made up the top three teams while Murray State (56), Tennessee Tech (44), Southeast Missouri (29) and Austin Peay (16) completed the poll.
Jacksonville State running back DaMarcus James and Tennessee State defensive lineman Anthony Bass were selected as the media’s preseason offensive and defensive players of the year.
