THREE SIGNEES JOIN UT MARTIN EQUESTRIAN PROGRAM

MARTIN, Tenn. – University of Tennessee at Martin head coach Meghan Corvin has announced the additions of freshmen Haley Henderson, Kelsey Schmucker and Madeline Williams to the 2014-15 roster.

A native of Manila, Ark., Henderson competes in reining under the guidance of Tim Laws of Harrisburg, Ark. Henderson has produced top-four finishes in the Arkansas state horse show for the past three years. She placed second in reining in 2013, third in reining in 2012 and fourth in horsemanship in 2011. She also qualified for AQHA Youth World Show in reining and ranch horse pleasure in 2014 while also qualifying in 2013 in reining.

Schmucker has competed in the AQHA for six years, training with Brian Craig Quarter Horses and Jeff and Linda Moody Show Horses. Schmucker earned a youth championship and multiple superiors in showmanship and trail while on the AQHA circuit. She made the semifinals at her first AQHYA world show in 2013 after winning over 150 points in various classes including horsemanship, trail, equitation and showmanship while making the finals at the All-American Quarter Horse Congress in 2012. On her performance horse Oh So Shadowy, the Cromwell, Ind. native achieved over 300 points at shows in Indiana, Michigan, Ohio and Illinois while winning the 14-18 and All-Around Youth high points for IQHYA in 2010-12.

Hailing from Fruitport, Mich., Williams began riding and showing when she was eight years old at APHA and PTHA shows as well as local shows in all-around events. She received guidance from Rachel Kooiker of Kooiker Show Horses and has trained with Brent and Julie Harnish, Heather Brower, Kara Gerard and Matt Lantz. Williams has attended multiple world shows while earning numerous top-five and top-10 awards. She started reining two years ago and jumped up to a No. 2 ranking in the youth in Michigan. She has received a top-10 placing as well as a reserve championship in reining at the Quarter Horse Congress.

This 2014-15 Skyhawk equestrian schedule kicks off with a home competition against Southeastern Conference rival Auburn on Sept. 19.
