MARTIN, Tenn. – The University of Tennessee at Martin head women’s basketball coach Kevin McMillan has announced the addition of transfer Ashton Feldhaus, a 6-2 guard/forward from Butler to the 2014 recruiting class. Feldhaus will have three years of eligibility for the Skyhawks.
“Ashton is a tremendous shooter that can play multiple positions,” said McMillan. “She is skilled enough to play on the perimeter while also being savvy enough to play in the post. She has a strong basketball IQ and background. She loves to play the game and is another great teammate that we are looking forward to adding to our program.”
A native of Richmond, Ky., Feldhaus saw playing time in all 31 games for the Butler Bulldogs as a freshman. Averaging 12.4 minutes of playing time, she tallied 2.2 points and 1.7 rebounds per game. She tallied 53 rebounds on the year, including 12 offensive boards. In her collegiate debut, Feldhaus scored seven points against Cleveland State. She tallied a career-high nine points at Georgetown while hitting 2-of-3 from distance.
Feldhaus earned four varsity letters while playing for Robert Cooksey at Madison Central High School. She averaged 18 points and 10 rebounds per game her senior season. She helped her team win four consecutive district championships and two region titles in 2011 and 2013. She was selected as a Kentucky All-Star after her junior and senior campaigns along with being named a first team all-state selection as a senior.
Feldhaus joins former Butler teammate Haley Howard (Whiteland, Ind.) and fellow signees Macy Wright (Union City, Tenn./Three Rivers Community College), DaiJia Ruffin (Louisville, Ky./Sacred Heart Academy), Jese Vinson (Dover, Tenn./Stewart County High School) and Monique Jackson (Phenix City, Ala./Ole Miss) in the 2014 signing class.
