SKYHAWK CROSS COUNTRY CONTINUES HISTORY OF ACADEMIC SUCCESS

MARTIN, Tenn. – The University of Tennessee at Martin cross country team posted yet another solid performance in the classroom as final grades were posted.
As a team the men’s cross country squad posted a team grade point average of 3.2 during the fall semester before raising the team average to 3.3 in the spring term. The women’s squad continued to hold the bar high, posting a team average of 3.5 in the fall while tallying a 3.4 GPA during the spring.
As a whole, the cross country squad saw 14 athletes find a spot on the Chancellor’s Honor Roll in both the fall and spring semesters with GPAs of 3.2 or higher. Earning spots on the Honor Roll were Hayley Doty, Abby Frantom, Marne Helbing, Grace Lucas, Alexandra Stover, Heather Mullis, Hannah Wolters and Rachel Wolters on the women’s squad. On the men’s side were Joey DeSantis, Josh Diltz, Colin Johnson, Justin Morgan, Mark Graubner and Vance Pounders.
The Skyhawks had eight athletes notch perfect 4.0 GPAs this year. Included on the list were Lucas, Mullis, Hannah Wolters, Rachel Wolters, DeSantis, Diltz, Morgan and Graubner.
“I am always impressed that these results are standard for the teams,” said head cross country coach Gordon Sanders. “They do not lose sight of their priorities and continually balance in all of their goals.”
