MARTIN, Tenn. - The University of Tennessee at Martin baseball team heads back to Music City when it squares off against Ohio Valley Conference rival Belmont for a three-game weekend series. First pitch times are scheduled for 4 p.m. on Friday, April 4, 1 p.m. on Saturday, April 5 and 1 p.m. on Sunday, April 6.

The Skyhawks (3-23, 2-10 OVC) recently visited Nashville for a midweek game against No. 5 Vanderbilt and have also played at Belmont’s ES Rose Park three times already this season. UT Martin was forced to play a nonconference three-game set against Eastern Michigan on the Belmont campus on Feb. 21-23 because of unsafe playing conditions at Skyhawk Field.

UT Martin held its own but fell 5-0 against the No. 5 Commodores on Tuesday. The Skyhawk pitching staff limited the high-powered Vanderbilt offense to just one earned run and one scoring frame. Taylor Douglas had a pair of hits at the plate to lead UT Martin offensively.

The Skyhawks will look to keep their pitching momentum going into this series. Junior left-hander Taylor Cox (0-6, 7.50 ERA) is set to start the series opener, followed by junior southpaw Dalton Potts (0-4, 9.38) in Game 2 and junior righty Alex Martin (0-5, 3.46) in the series finale.

John Skubina (2.53 ERA in eight appearances) has been the Skyhawks’ most effective setup man, while fellow relievers Carter Smith, John Houston, Stu Jones and Alex Boshers are coming off scoreless outings against a dangerous Commodore offense.

Belmont (10-18, 2-7 OVC) enters this series on a three-game winning streak, taking the final two games of an OVC road series at Morehead State and a midweek home win against Evansville. Drew Ferguson leads the Bruin offense with a .387 batting average in OVC play.

The Bruins’ announced starting rotation calls for junior lefty Patrick McGrath (1-4, 5.40 ERA) in Game 1, senior lefty James Buckelew (2-3, 3.10) in Game 2 and junior righty Austin Coley (2-1, 3.48) in Game 3. Greg Brody (four saves, 0.00 ERA) and Christopher Carroll (OVC-high 17 appearances) pace the bullpen.

All three games this weekend will be presented by the OVC Digital Network live, free of charge. Those links, as well as the links for live stats, are available at the top of the webpage.
