In the 3000 meter run, freshmen Joey DeSantis and Dalton Hudlow stole the show for the Skyhawks placing second and third in their heats. DeSantis finished with a time of 8:59.42 while Hudlow tallied a time of 9:03.83 to place the duo fourth and sixth on the school’s all-time list, respectively. Junior Josiah Roberts also competed in the event, posting a time of 10:18.72.

Four Skyhawks battled in the women’s 3000 meter run as Hayley Doty led the field with a time of 11:02.87. Grace Lucas finished with a time of 11:26.09 while being trailed by Abby Frantom at 11:28.67. Freshmen Olivia Owens and Heather Mullis rounded out the Skyhawk field with consecutive finishes of 11:55.21 and 12:00.50, respectively.
Competing in the women’s 2000m steeple was senior Hannah Wolters with a time of 9:09.87.
“Regardless of the miserable weather, Hayley, Grace and Abbey improved between 20 and 30 seconds in their 3K with Heather getting a small best,” said UT Martin coach Gordon Sanders. “Men’s top frosh slots traded again as Joey and Dalton got bests in the 3K to be UT Martin’s No. 4 and 6, respectively, on UTM’s all-time list. Justin won his heat for his best and a No. 2 slot on the 1500 meter all-time list. A few others were within seconds of their best putting them on target for our best races in the last two weeks of the season. It was a good meet for us.”
The Skyhawks return to action on Saturday, April 5 when they travel to the Ole Miss Invite in Oxford, Miss. The meet is scheduled to get underway at 10 a.m.
