WACO, Texas – The selections and seeding for the 2014 National Collegiate Equestrian Association championships were announced this afternoon and the University of Tennessee at Martin is seeded 11th, setting the stage for the Skyhawks’ eighth straight postseason appearance.
The NCEA championships will take place on April 17-19 at the Extraco Events Center in Waco, Texas. The NCEA selection committee determines and invites the top-12 overall teams (Western and Hunt Seat combined) to participate in the tournament field.
UT Martin will take on No. 6 seed Baylor in the opening round, with the winner set to take on No. 3 Georgia. The Skyhawks faced both teams earlier this season, falling 11-5 at Baylor on Sept. 28 and tying Georgia by a 9-9 margin at home on Jan. 25.
Coached by Meghan Corvin, the Skyhawks are currently 5-7-3 on the season and are coming off a runner-up finish in the independent championships last weekend. UT Martin has faced nine of the other 11 teams in the NCEA championship field, including each of the top seven squads.
