JOHNSON BREAKS YET ANOTHER PROGRAM RECORD IN RHODES OPEN

MEMPHIS, Tenn. – The University of Tennessee at Martin cross country teams showed well in its second track meet of the spring, taking part in the Rhodes College Open over the weekend.
In the 10K meter run, senior Colin Johnson broke his own previous school record with a time of 31:26.71, good for a third place finish in the field. Joining Johnson in the field was classmate Vance Pounders who complete with a time of 38:17.33.
The Skyhawks competed in the women’s 5K led by junior Grace Lucas with a 20:25.25 finish on the day, good for a new personal best in the event. Joining Lucas was senior Hannah Wolters (21:17.23) and freshman Olivia Owens (21:19.88).
Sophomore Justin Morgan climbed into third place on the school’s 5K leaderboard with a time of 15:22.14 while freshman Joey DeSantis moved into 12th place with a 15:48.46 finish.
Competing in the women’s one mile run was Hayley Doty who tallied a new personal best with a time of 5:29.09. Joining Doty in the action was Heather Mullis who finished at 6:00.31.
Three Skyhawks competed in the men’s one mile run, paced by freshman David Wells with a time of 4:44.02. Wells was joined by sophomore Zach Phifer (4:58.23) and junior Josiah Roberts (5:00.84).
”It was a good starting outdoor meet for many with most on track to get their best next month,” said coach Gordon Sanders. “Colin once again broke his school record in the 10K. Justin and Joey went climbed to third and 12 on the UT Martin all-time 5K list as well. Grace and Hayley paced the women while they each broke personal bests in their events.”
UT Martin will be back in action on Sunday, Apr. 6 when they participate in the Murray State Simmons Invite.
