Tari and Silva continued the winning pace by picking up respective 7-5, 6-2 and 7-5, 5-7, 6-4 victories.
“All of our matches so far this year have come down to one point here or there,” said tennis coach Dennis Taylor. “Having lost three extremely close contests it was good to see the girls get a win. As you can see from the scores it was tight, but the girls stayed very aggressive and pulled out the big points in the end. Hitomi, Sarah and Burcu all won three set matches.”
On Friday against Evansville, UT Martin battled until the end before falling 4-3. The Skyhawks and Purple Aces both won three singles matches, but Evansville came out on top after picking up the doubles point.
The Skyhawks narrowly lost the doubles point as both the teams of Candeloro and McCall along with the duo of Simic and Naito fell by 8-6 decisions. Tari and Silva fell at the No. 3 slot 8-5.
Simic won at No. 1 singles (7-5, 6-1) before Candeloro picked up the 6-2, 6-4 victory at No. 3. Tari would pick up the Skyhawks third singles victory at the No. 4 slot with a three-set affair of 1-6, 6-3, 6-5.
