MARTIN, Tenn. – The University of Tennessee at Martin women’s basketball team will look to rebound after a tough loss in its last outing when they travel across state lines to Southeast Missouri for an Ohio Valley Conference West division showdown. Action from the Show Me Center is schedule to get underway at 3 p.m.

The Skyhawks (17-7, 10-1 OVC) come into the weekend matchup fresh of their first loss of the conference slate to SIU Edwardsville last week, 65-62. In a game which saw the Skyhawks play without head coach Kevin McMillan, the visitors shot just 31 percent from the floor while making only 13-of-24 attempts from the free throw line. The loss snapped a 10-game winning streak, with their last defeat coming on Dec. 30 against No. 20 Florida State.

UT Martin placed four players in double figures on the afternoon, led by the play of senior guard Jasmine Newsome who tossed in 18 points. Ashia Jones tallied her second career double-double with 14 points and 14 rebounds while seniors Heather Butler and Megan White tallied 12 and 11 points, respectively.

Newsome needs just three points to move past Tennessee Tech’s Janet Holt who ranks fourth on the OVC’s all-time scoring list. The dynamic senior needs just 119 points to move past Tech’s Cheryl Taylor who currently sits in second place on the league’s leaderboard.

Southeast Missouri (8-16, 4-7 OVC) come into the contest hot off a 69-60 road victory over SIUE on Monday night. The Redhawks placed three players in double figures against the Cougars, led by the play of Allyson Bradshaw who tallied 16 points. The duo of Olivia Hackmann and Patricia Mack helped push the Redhawks over the hump, tallying 15 and 11 points, respectively.

The Redhawks narrowly lead the all-time series with a 29-28 advantage, but the Skyhawks have owned the series of late, picking up nine consecutive wins. UT Martin won the earlier meeting on Jan. 13 by a score of 100-71. The Skyhawks placed four players in double figures, led by 23 points from Butler.
