Predicted Finish Top Returners
BRENTWOOD, Tenn. – The University of Tennessee at Martin women’s tennis team has been selected to fifth in the Ohio Valley Conference predicted order of finish, as chosen by the league’s head coaches. Skyhawk senior Ivon Simic was named the league’s No. 8 player heading into the 2014 spring season.
The Skyhawks tallied 47 points in the preseason ballot, trailing Eastern Kentucky (80 points, eight first-place votes), Murray State (71 points, one first-place vote), Jacksonville State (63 points) and Eastern Illinois (52 points).
A native of Lauterbach, Hesse, Germany, Simic is coming off a season in which she led the team with an 8-12 record at No. 1 singles. She went 4-6 against OVC singles competition, including winning her last two matches. For her career, Simic boasts a combined 43-34 record with a 23-12 mark in the OVC. She also has been named to the OVC Commissioner’s Honor Roll in each of her first three full seasons as a Skyhawk.
UT Martin resumes its 2014 schedule on Saturday, Feb. 8 when it travels to Mississippi State for a 3 p.m. matchup.
