Baylor Results     New Mexico State Results     Southern Methodist Results

MARTIN, Tenn. – The No. 10 University of Tennessee at Martin equestrian team took on No. 7 Baylor and New Mexico State to complete its participation in the Willis Invitational on Saturday, followed by a road competition at Southern Methodist on Sunday.

The Skyhawks, who defeated No. 8 South Dakota State via a raw points tiebreaker on Friday, fell to Baylor by an 11-5 margin early on Saturday. Later that day, UT Martin tied New Mexico State 8-8 but lost on a raw points tiebreaker (1244.25 points to 1029 points). Earlier today, the Skyhawks dropped a tough 13-4 decision to SMU.

In Hunterseat against Baylor, UT Martin split the points in equitation on the flat. Hunter Ralston (78-point ride) and Reid Rickett (78-point ride) each earned points, with Rickett taking home MOP honors. In equitation over fences, Ralston once again recorded a point for UT Martin with a 72-point ride but Baylor earned the other three points to take a 5-3 lead.

Horsemanship brought yet another split between UT Martin and Baylor. Cora Rogalski and Kenzie Perry were responsible for points with rides of 71.5 points and 71 points, respectively. However, Baylor swept all four reining points for a 6-2 Western victory.

Against New Mexico State, the Skyhawks claimed six of the eight points in Hunterseat. Rickett (79 points), Kaylan Herbst (74) and Mykaela Van Selus (75) each accounted for points in equitation on the flat, while Rickett (71), Erin Douglas (80) and Ralston (84, MOP honors) tallied points in equitation over fences.

In Western competition, Perry’s 71.5 points and Laurel Ellzey’s 74 points were good for points in horsemanship. New Mexico State then recorded all four points in reining and the winner was determined by the raw points tiebreaker.

At SMU on Sunday, Ralston once again earned a point in equitation on the flat, chalking up 72 points. However, that would be the only point that UT Martin would accumulate in Hunterseat.

In Western, Rogalski (73.5 points) and Perry (76) each amassed points in horsemanship. Megan Marie Foley added a point in reining with a 68-point ride.

The Skyhawks return to action on Saturday, Oct. 19 when they travel to No. 2 Auburn at 10 a.m.
