VOLLEYBALL TEAM LOOKS TO STAY HOT WHILE HOSTING EVANSVILLE IN TUESDAY'S 2013 HOME OPENER

MARTIN, Tenn. - Fresh off a tournament victory in the first weekend of the season, the University of Tennessee at Martin volleyball squad hosts Evansville in the 2013 home opener at Skyhawk Fieldhouse on Tuesday, Sept. 6. First serve is scheduled for 6:30 p.m.
The first 150 students with a valid UT Martin ID will receive free pizza.
The Skyhawks (2-1) enter the match on a roll after capturing the CEFCU Classic championship hosted by Bradley last weekend. UT Martin downed two-time defending Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference champion Maryland-Eastern Shore (3-0), fell to Western Illinois (3-1) and turned away host Bradley (3-1) in the tournament championship match. Chelsea Bowles was named tournament Most Valuable Player while Emily Keaton also garnered all-tournament accolades.
On Monday, Amanda Crask was also recognized for her efforts in the CEFCU Classic, as she was named adidas OVC Setter of the Week. Bowles was also spotlighted by the OVC, earning the adidas OVC Co-Defensive Player of the Week award.
As a result of its hot start, UT Martin leads the Ohio Valley Conference in hitting percentage (.275), assists (142, 12.91 per set) and kills (152, 13.82 per set).
Evansville (2-1) also accounted for a 2-1 record in its opening weekend, taking part in a tournament hosted by North Carolina Central in Durham, NC. The Purple Aces defeated OVC member Murray State 3-0, fell to Hampton 3-2 and defeated host North Carolina Central 3-0.
Rachel TenHoor recorded double-digit kills in all three matches over the weekend, while Ashley Ring amassed 22 kills against Hampton. Defensively, Katie Klages paced Evansville in digs, scooping up a season-high 23 against Hampton.
