MARTIN, Tenn. – The general public and University of Tennessee at Martin alumni have been invited to an open forum featuring Skyhawk head baseball coaching candidate Rod Delmonico on Friday, Aug. 23. The session will take place in Room 111 (legislative chamber) of the Boling University Center from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Delmonico is the winningest coach in the history of the University of Tennessee baseball program, posting a 699-396 record from 1990 to 2007. In that span, he guided the Volunteers to nine 40-win seasons (including a pair of 50-win campaigns), two Southeastern Conference championships and three appearances in the College World Series (1995, 2001, 2005).

The 1995 National Coach of the Year, Delmonico was the third-fastest SEC baseball coach to reach 500 wins, accomplishing the feat in just 760 games. When he left Tennessee in 2007, he ranked fourth in the SEC in all-time victories. Overall, he coached 23 All-Americans (including Todd Helton, the 1995 National Player of the Year), 43 All-SEC players, three SEC Players of the Year and one SEC Pitcher of the Year.

Delmonico has also had assistant coaching stops at Florida State (1984-89, 2008), Clemson (1982-83) and Florida International (2009). Most recently, Delmonico served as manager for the Netherlands in the 2009 World Baseball Classic.

A native of Wilmington, NC, Delmonico graduated from Liberty University with a degree in physical education in 1980. He earned his Master’s degree in education administration from Clemson in 1983.
