MARTIN, Tenn. – In a tournament marred with various frost and rain delays, The University of Tennessee at Martin golf team couldn't find a rhythm in the Samford Intercollegiate, finishing in 15th place at the Hoover Country Club in Alabama.
The Skyhawks shot a total of 924 in the tournament comprised of some of the best teams in the Southeast, while Auburn brought home the trophy with a final round of 865. UT Martin carded a respectable 304 in the opening round, then posted a 313 score in Round 2. The Skyhawks concluded the tournament with a six-shot improvement from their Round 2 score (307).
Brendon Caballero (76-80-74) and Tyler Shellnut (72-79-79) tied for the team lead in the tournament, each compiling scores of 230. Caballero was exceptional on the par-5 holes, tallying an 8-under-par score - the second-best score of the 94 golfers in the tournament. Shellnut meanwhile was one of only 13 patricipants who shot par or better in the first round.

The Skyhawks will look to build off their success from last season, when they won the tournament by 13 strokes.
