RIFLE TEAM COMPETES IN NCAA QUALIFIER AT MURRAY STATE

MURRAY, Ky. – Four University of Tennessee at Martin shooters set or tied five new career-highs on Saturday at the NCAA Qualifier held at the Pat Spurgin Rifle Range on the campus of Murray State University.
The mixed team compiled 4,587 points, firing 2,256 in smallbore and 2,331 in air rifle, tying fellow Ohio Valley Conference member Murray State in the event. OVC season champion Jacksonville State also competed in the event (4,664) while OVC member Columbus State, Memphis and Nebraska were set to compete on Sunday.
In smallbore, Steve Hahn led the mixed team with a score of 570. Jessica Cobb followed closely behind with a career-best score of 566, followed by Mark McClallen (562), Joe Barefoot (558) and Dana Maurizio (557).
Also competing as individuals for UT Martin was Kelly James (career-high 575), Jamie Arnett (career-best 563), Nikki Kroll (558, first 200 of the season in prone portion), Sean O’Brien (557), Jennifer Greeves (535) and Jacob Stolley (510).
Cobb and Maurizio each paced the Skyhawks in air rifle with an impressive score of 585, tying a career-high in that area for Maurizio. Hahn was just one point behind with his 584, while McClallen compiled 577 points. Barefoot rounded out the squad with his score of 566.
Arnett (career-best 576), Kroll (576), O’Brien (568), James (565), Jordan Goodwin (562) and Jordan Jensen (546) all competed as individuals for the Skyhawks.
