MEN'S HOOPS LOOKS FOR THIRD STRAIGHT OVC WIN IN PIVOTAL THURSDAY MATCHUP AGAINST EIU

MARTIN, Tenn. - Coming off back-to-back Ohio Valley Conference victories, The University of Tennessee at Martin men’s basketball team will look to avenge an early season loss to Eastern Illinois when it clashes with the Panthers on Thursday, Feb. 7 at the Kathleen and Tom Elam Center. Tip-off is scheduled for 7 p.m.

The Skyhawks (6-16, 3-7 OVC) have elevated their game defensively in each of the last two league contests and as a result have climbed up the league standings. With a victory against Eastern Illinois, UT Martin could potentially move within a half-game of second place in the OVC West standings.

These two teams met on Jan. 24 in Charleston, with Eastern Illinois claiming a 69-56 comeback victory. Myles Taylor (21 points) and Terence Smith (13 points, seven assists, six rebounds) led UT Martin in that game.

Eastern Illinois (6-17, 3-7 OVC) saw its three-game winning streak snap at SIU Edwardsville last Saturday, falling 49-45. Morris Woods - who registered team-highs of 15 points and 11 rebounds against the Skyhawks earlier this season - was the only Panther to reach double-figures in the scoring column with 16 points.
