MARTIN
– The University of Tennessee at Martin football team finished the 2012 football season with an 8-3  record and its first-ever victory over a Bowl Championship Subdivision team, Memphis.

Now that the season is officially over, the Skyhawks are ranked among the best teams in the country. UT Martin is 30th in the final Football Championship Subdivision Coaches Poll and 30th in the final Sports Network Poll.

UT Martin was one of three Ohio Valley Conference teams to get votes in either or both polls this season. Eastern Kentucky and Eastern Illinois were also in both polls.

North Dakota State, which defeated Sam Houston State in the championship game, was No. 1 in both polls. Sam Houston State was No. 2.

The FCS Coaches Poll is based exclusively on a voting panel of head coaches in the FCS under the cooperation of the Collegiate Commissioners Association (CCA) and the American Football Coaches Association and is administered by the Southern Conference.

The Sports Network Poll is voted on by a national panel of sports information and media relations directors, broadcasters, writers and other dignitaries.

UT Martin, which won the OVC in 2006, was ranked No. 13 in the final Sports Network poll that year.
