WOMEN'S BASKETBALL PLAYER EARNS ADIDAS OVC PLAYER OF WEEK HONORS

Heather Butler, a junior guard on The University of Tennessee at Martin women’s basketball team, was named the adidas Ohio Valley Conference Player of the Week. The league’s sports information directors nominate and vote on the weekly honor.
This is the second consecutive week the Gibson County native has won the honor and the fifth time in six weeks a UT Martin player has claimed the Player of the Week accolade this season.
Butler led all players with 26 points against Indiana State. She recorded a pair of free throws in the first half and came back to net 24 points in the second stanza. She tied the game at 60-all with a layup with six seconds left in regulation, and also gave the Skyhawks the 71-70 lead with 12 seconds left in the overtime period.
She finished the game with seven assists and four steals.
