BEARD SIGNS TWO SHOOTERS FOR 2013-14 SEASON
December 4, 2012
MARTIN, Tenn. – The University of Tennessee at Martin head rifle coach Bob Beard turned to a pair of familiar faces and locations for his two newest signees, as Breanna Flint and Logan Hunt have inked National Letters of Intent to shoot for the Skyhawks.
Flint will join UT Martin out of the Galway (NY) Junior Rifle Club, which produced current Skyhawk shooter Steve Hahn (2012 All-Ohio Valley Conference first teamer) and former UT Martin standout Heather Tillson (four-time All-OVC performer from 2005-09). Meanwhile, Hunt shoots for the nationally-recognized Ozark (Mo.) High School Junior ROTC team and is the brother of former Skyhawk sharpshooter Kelsea Hunt, who was a two-time All-OVC performer under Beard from 2008-12.
“Both of these athletes are coming from excellent programs and should make an immediate impact on their respective teams next fall at UT Martin,” Beard said.
A native of Ballston Spa, NY, Flint has trained and competed in the National Smallbore Championships at Camp Perry, Ohio. She also has taken part in competitions at the prestigious Palmyra (Pa.) Invitational and earned the distinguished expert rating in both smallbore and air rifle. She is a former New York state female rifle champion in 3p and air gun, while her team has won four state championships in her high school career.
This past year, Hunt helped his high school team set a national record in 3-position air rifle while the squad claimed the 2012 Precision Junior ROTC rifle national championship. The Ozark, Mo. native also led his team to the 2011 Sporter Junior ROTC rifle national championship and finished fourth individually among over 400 competitors in the MBA Classic in Nashville this past October. Other past top-10 finishes include the 2010 Basic Individual Bass Pro (first), 2009 Gary Anderson (second), 2010 Web City (third), 2009 Sporter Army Postal (seventh), 2010 MBA Classic (eighth) and 2012 Precision Army Junior ROTC national championship (eighth).
