VOLLEYBALL TEAM SET FOR OVC TOURNAMENT THIS WEEKEND AT MOREHEAD STATE

MARTIN, Tenn. – The University of Tennessee at Martin volleyball squad will make its 12th all-time appearance in the Ohio Valley Conference Tournament this weekend held at Wetherby Gym in Morehead, Ky.
The No. 8 seed Skyhawks will take on regular season champion Morehead State in the league quarterfinals on Thursday, Nov. 15 at 6 p.m. CT. The semifinals are set for Friday, Nov. 16 while the championship match will take place on Saturday, Nov. 17. If UT Martin was to advance to the semifinals, it would face the winner of the No. 4 Austin Peay/No. 5 Tennessee State match. The other half of the bracket features No. 2 Southeast Missouri/No.7 Jacksonville State and No. 3 Belmont/No. 6 Eastern Illinois.
UT Martin closed out the regular season with a 10-20 overall record and 6-10 league slate. The Skyhawks are 8-10 all-time in the OVC Tournament and 3-2 all-time in tournament matches played at Morehead State, including last season’s run to the championship match. UT Martin downed Jacksonville State (3-1) and Tennessee State (3-1) before falling to the host Eagles 3-0 in the finals at Wetherby Gym. The Skyhawks played on Morehead State’s home floor once this season, falling 3-0 to Morehead State (17-25, 13-25, 18-25) on Oct. 20.
The Skyhawks are led offensively by sophomore Emily Keaton, who leads the team with 259 kills (2.38 per set). Freshman Shelby Hoskins ranks first on the squad with a .218 attack percentage, while All-OVC Newcomer Amanda Crask hands out 8.56 assists per set.
Defensively, three-time All-OVC member Kasey Elswick paces the Skyhawks, as her 632 digs (5.69 per set) lead the league. Hoskins and Jackie Harter have each turned away 76 blocks to pace UT Martin at the net.
