CROSS COUNTRY TEAMS TAKE PART IN UTC FRONTRUNNER INVITATIONAL

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. – The University of Tennessee at Martin cross country teams competed in their final tune-up for the Ohio Valley Conference championships this weekend when it traveled to the FrontRunner Invitational held at Moccasin Bend.

The Skyhawk men posted a total time of 1:23.58 in the 5000 meter run, while the UT Martin women’s squad tallied a total time of 1:17:02 on the two mile course.

On the men’s side, Justin Morgan (16:29.37) and Tallon Scott (16:30.58) slotted back-to-back finishes for the Skyhawks, followed by Ryan Pett (16:51.98) and Josiah Roberts (17:01.17). Vance Pounders recorded a time of 17:04.01, while Mark Graubner completed the course in 17:57.77. Zach Phifer and Trevor Hancock rounded out the field with times of 18:31.62 and 20:01.17, respectively.

Amanda Wardlaw paced the UT Martin women’s team with a time of 12:20.27, followed closely by Hannah Wolters (12:25.29). Samantha Hunt ran a strong 12:39.58, while Alexandra Stover (13:02.92) and Kaycee Grimes (13:10.59) finished within eight seconds of each other. Kathryn Skaggs posted a final time of 13:23.18, while Laura Wind (13:36.66), Abby Frantom (13:44.71) and Emily Jones (14:02.71) finished strong for the Skyhawks.

UT Martin returns to action on Saturday, Oct. 27 for the OVC Championships, located at Oxford Lake Park in Oxford, Ala. The women’s race is scheduled to begin at 9:15 a.m., followed by the men’s race at 10 a.m.
