GOLF TEAMS MUST MAKE MOVE IN SECOND ROUND AT ANNUAL SKYHAWK CLASSIC

MARTIN, Tenn. – Lipscomb University jumped out to a first-round lead in the Skyhawk Classic Golf Tournament at Paris Landing in Buchanan. Lipscomb fired a first-round 8-under par to lead the 14-team tournament hosted by The University of Tennessee at Martin.

 The top six teams in the tournament are all shooting under par. Tennessee Tech is second with a 284. John A Logan Community College is third with a 285.

UT Martin’s B Team is currently tied for seventh in the tournament with a first-round 292. Clay Harbin leads the four-person team with a 1-under-par 71. Graham Sleigh and Tyler Guy each fired an even par 72. Redshirt freshman Austin Smith shot 5-over.

The UT Martin A team is tied for tenth. Tyler Shellnut leads the A-Team with a 2-under par 70. Sophomore Brendon Caballero and freshman Ben Reeves each fired a 3-over par 74.

Junior John Michael Sisinni shot a 77, while Taylor Deming shot a 78.

The second and third rounds of the Skyhawk Classic are set for Tuesday, Oct. 9 at Paris Landing.

The 2012 Skyhawk Classic is a 54-hole stroke play tournament conducted UT Martin. The 78-player field is made up of 14 teams, with nine participants competing as individuals. The par 72 Paris Landing Golf Course is playing at a length of 6,685 yards.

Lipscomb’s Ryan Terry leads the tournament with a 5-under 67, while Tennessee Tech’s Greg Kitts is one back at 68.
