SPECIALIST EARNS ADIDAS OHIO VALLEY CONFERENCE FOOTBALL WEEKLY HONOR

MARTIN, Tenn. – Junior Kevin Barfield, from Memphis, was named the adidas Ohio Valley Conference Specialist of the Week for his effort in The University of Tennessee at Martin’s 51-37 football victory over Eastern Illinois.
Barfield, who returns kicks and plays wide receiver, set the tone in early in the game by taking the opening kickoff 93 yards for a touchdown. He put the Skyhawks ahead for good just 13 seconds into the game. It marked the 13th-longest kickoff return of the season in the Football Championship Subdivision (FCS). Barfield finished the game with 161 all-purpose yards, 118 on kickoff returns and 43 receiving yards on five receptions (including a 29-yard touchdown in the first quarter).
UT Martin is 4-2 on the year and 2-1 in the OVC. The Skyhawks travel to Murray (Ky.) State Saturday, Oct. 13. Kickoff is set for 3 p.m.
