LINEBACKER EARNS COLLEGE FOOTBALL PERFORMANCE AWARDS HONOR

MARTIN, Tenn. – Junior linebacker Ben Johnson was named the Ohio Valley Conference Player of the Week by College Football Performance Awards (CFPA) for his effort this past Thursday night in The University of Tennessee at Martin’s 23-6 victory over Southeastern Louisiana at Hardy M. Graham Stadium.

The UT Martin linebacker recorded his second consecutive double-digit tackle night of the young season. Johnson, from Primm Springs, had 12 tackles, 1.5 sacks for 11 yards and two TFLs (tackles for a loss).  

Johnson leads the Skyhawks after three games with 34 total tackles. He recorded 13 tackles at Northern Illinois and nine tackles at Memphis. He also leads the team in sacks with 3 for 16 yards.

The goal of College Football Performance Awards is to provide the most scientifically rigorous conferment in college football. Recipients are selected exclusively based upon objective scientific rankings of the extent to which individual players increase the overall effectiveness of their teams.
