MARTIN, Tenn. – After scoring a goal in both of The University of Tennessee at Martin’s soccer matches and recording an assist, senior forward Kendyl Wilson has been named the adidas Ohio Valley Conference Offensive Player of the Week, the league announced this afternoon.

Wilson is the ninth Skyhawk to be named an OVC Offensive Player of the Week in the program’s 15-year history.

The Collierville native has been one of the best players in the OVC this season, leading the conference in points (11) and assists (three), while ranking second in goals (four) despite the fact she has only attempted eight shots on the year. Wilson has helped power UT Martin to the league lead in shots (119, 17 per match), points (41, 5.86 per match), goals per match (2.00) and assists (13, 1.86 per match).

On Friday, Wilson tied the Arkansas State match with a goal in the 50th minute. She followed that up two days later with an assist on the first goal of UT Martin’s 5-1 victory over in-state rival Lipscomb. She then opened up the second half with a goal – the eventual game-winner – at the 49:12 mark that gave the Skyhawks a lead they would not relinquish the rest of the way.

Wilson now ranks in the UT Martin record book top-10 in four different career categories: assists (13, second); points (33, seventh); game-winning goals (4, seventh) and goals (10, eighth).

The Skyhawks visit the Peach State this weekend when they travel to take on Georgia State on Friday, Sept. 14 and Kennesaw State on Sunday, Sept. 16.
