MARTIN, Tenn. – The University of Tennessee at Martin netted four goals in the second half alone to cruise to its eighth straight victory over the Lipscomb Lady Bisons, 5-1 at Skyhawk Field this afternoon.

The Skyhawks improved to 2-4-1 on the season, while also extending its home record to a perfect 6-0 against Lipscomb. Overall, UT Martin hasn’t lost to the Lady Bisons since 2003.

Offensively, the Skyhawks attempted 24 shots today while limiting Lipscomb to eight attempts. Hannah McGowen accumulated five shots to lead UT Martin, who tied a season-high with 16 shots on goal this afternoon.

Goalkeeper Mariah Klenke picked up her second victory of the season, making three saves against one goal allowed in all 90 minutes.

Abi Sanvee (16th minute), Kendyl Wilson (50th), Dominika Conc (51st), Ashlie Watson (68th) and Ashley Reveiz (85th) all scored for the Skyhawks this afternoon. McGowen and Wilson also were credited with assists.

Sanvee’s goal gave UT Martin an early 1-0 lead. Wilson sent a quick pass on the right side to McGowen, who found Sanvee for a goal from about five yards out. It was Sanvee’s second goal of the season and eighth of her career.

Lipscomb answered back with a goal of its own at the 26:11 mark, evening the score at 1-all – the eventual halftime margin.

UT Martin’s second half scoring onslaught began at the 49:12 mark. Left all alone deep on the right flank, Wilson lofted a shot that sent Lipscomb goalkeeper Erin Zerio backtracking before the ball found the back of the net. It was Wilson’s team-high fourth goal and 10th of her career, as she becomes only the 10th player in program history to tally double-figure goals for a career.

Less than a minute later, Conc added an insurance goal. After Wilson sent a hard cross in the box, Zerio deflected the ball right to Conc – who scooted the ball in the back of the net from the left side. It was Conc’s first goal of the season and fourth of her two-year career.

At the 67:36 mark, Watson earned her first goal as a Skyhawk. After a Jaclyn Heckle header off a corner kick was saved by Zerio, Watson snuck in for a header goal to expand UT Martin’s advantage out to 4-1.

A goal by Reveiz capped off the Skyhawks’ offensive outburst. McGowen rushed the goalkeeper with a hard attempt from point blank range that tipped off Zerio’s hands and the ball wound up in front of Reveiz, who emerged from the crowd with her first goal of the season.

UT Martin heads back on the road for its next three matches, starting with a pair of matches next weekend at Georgia State (Sept. 14) and at Kennesaw State (Sept. 16).
