HERRON PRESENTS FORMER WOMEN'S ATHLETIC DIRECTOR WITH SENATE JOINT RESOLUTION

MARTIN, Tenn. – State Sen. Roy Herron presented Bettye Giles, former women’s athletics director and associate professor of physical education at  The University of Tennessee at Martin, a Senate Joint Resolution Tuesday night at the Kathleen and Tom Elam Center during the Skyhawk Kickoff Dinner.

The resolution honors Giles for her development and promotion of women’s athletics at UT Martin and across the state.

Giles was instrumental in establishing women’s intercollegiate sports at UT Martin and across the state.

The resolution recognizes and pays tribute to Giles for her commitment to equality, education and public health.

Presenting the resolution to Giles with Herron was fomer UT Martin student-athlete Julia (White) Brundige.
