SOCCER MATCH AGAINST MISSISSIPPI STATE TO BE STREAMED LIVE ONLINE

MARTIN, Tenn. – A live video feed of The University of Tennessee at Martin’s soccer match against Mississippi State on Friday, Aug. 24 will be streamed on Mississippi State’s official website. The match is slated to begin at 7 p.m.

The Skyhawks are taking part in the Bulldog Classic this weekend in Starkville, Miss. Two days after facing Mississippi State, UT Martin will battle Mississippi Valley State on Sunday, Aug. 26 at 11 a.m.

UT Martin has played both Mississippi State and Mississippi Valley State one time in its 15-year history. The Skyhawks fell 2-1 to Mississippi State in 2010 and defeated Mississippi Valley State by a 1-0 margin in 2008. Both matches were played at Skyhawk Field.

The matchup against Mississippi State will be UT Martin’s second straight against a Southeastern Conference opponent to open the season. In the 2012 season opener last Friday, the Skyhawks hung tough with Vanderbilt for the majority of the match before the Commodores scored in the 75^th and 82^nd minutes for the 2-0 win. UT Martin attempted 13 shots during the match, with nine different Skyhawks firing a shot attempt. In goal, sophomore Mariah Klenke snagged a career-high 11 saves while logging all 90 minutes.

Mississippi State won its season-opener last Friday, a 2-1 result against Southeastern Louisiana. In that match, the Bulldogs outshot the opposition by a 34-3 margin, as Mississippi State’s offense put 13 shots on goal.

Mississippi Valley State will make its season debut this weekend after producing back-to-back Southwestern Athletic Conference runner-up finishes the last two seasons. The Devilettes return 13 letterwinners from last season, including Josee Primeau and Bianca Vigliante – the SWAC Preseason Offensive and Defensive Players of the Year, respectively.
