August 14, 2012
MARTIN, Tenn. –The University of Tennessee at Martin football team is eight days into fall camp and has already had visits from eight NFL teams as on Monday, Aug. 13.
“It has created some excitement around here,” UT Martin’s seventh-year head coach Jason Simpson said.
The New York Giants and the St. Louis Rams were at Hardy M. Graham Stadium this past Monday night.
Among the other NFL teams to visit the Skyhawks were the Green Bay Packers, the Houston Texans, the New England Patriots, the San Francisco 49ers, the Tennessee Titans and the Carolina Panthers.
Most scouts are coming to Martin to see Montori Hughes and Quentin Sims.
Hughes is a 6-4, 330-pound defensive lineman from Murfreesboro who transferred to UT Martin right before the 2011 season.
Hughes is on the 2012 College Football Performance Award Defensive Lineman Watch List.
Sims is a 6-3, 202-pound wide receiver from Cincinnati, Ohio. He transferred to UT Martin from Georgia Tech for the 2011 season. This past season Sims led the Skyhawks with 54 catches for 712 yards and 10 touchdowns.
The Skyhawks will scrimmage for the first time at 7:15 Wednesday, Aug. 15, at Hardy M. Graham Stadium.
