MARTIN, Tenn. – Place kicker Cody Sandlin is the latest UT Martin football player to make College Football Performance Awards (CFPA) watch list for the upcoming season.

Sandlin, a rising senior from Goodlettsville, made 14-of-17 field goals this past season, including a record-tying 53-yarder at Eastern Kentucky.

Sandlin also made 45 of 48 PATs. He made 9-of-9 PATs against Union College, 6-of-6 against No. 24 Murray State and was 7-of-8 against Austin Peay.

Sandlin currently has 148 career points which is the fifth most in school history for a kicker. He is 74 points away from becoming UT Martin’s all-time leading scorer by kicking. UT Martin Hall of Famer Ki Tok Chu currently holds the record with 221 points.

The University of Tennessee at Martin has had six players make College Football Performance Award Watch lists. Among those making the watch lists are Sandlin, quarterback Derek Carr, running back Tevin Barksdale, wide receiver Quentin Sims, tight end Ben Everett and defensive lineman Montori Hughes.

The Skyhawks will open the 2012 season on Sept. 1 at the Liberty Bowl against host Memphis. Kickoff is set for 6 p.m.
