WOLTERS SIGNS ON TO JOIN UT MARTIN SKYHAWK CROSS COUNTRY
April 16, 2010
MARTIN, Tenn. - Hannah Wolters, a native of Culleoka, Tenn., has signed a National Letter of Intent to join The University of Tennessee at Martin cross country program, head coach Gordon Sanders has announced.
Wolters attended Home Life Academy, ranking 32nd out of 362 students in her class. She plans on a double major in agriculture and family consumer sciences at UT Martin.
Wolters is currently acclimating herself to distance running, but her endurance to handle physical activities is evident. She says her biggest thrill in high school was riding a bicycle to Alabama and back on July 4, 2009.
"Hannah was interested in joining our program and asked about grant standards," Sanders said. "Within a couple of months she hit the 20:30 needed. She has done very well on very little training. Her initiative was already evident from the many projects and awards she has garnered in her academic career. Self-trained for the sheer joy endurance work, I look forward to seeing her take that to competitive racing."
Wolters joins the 2010 signing class with Colin Johnson (Clarksville), Vance Pounders (Nashville) and Kenta Nolin (Knoxville).
