David Hussey made a relief appearance of one inning while Konnor Aherin (2-1) was tagged with the loss as he tossed two innings and gave up a pair of runs to the Redhawks but wrung up two in the process.
Folks worked around a leadoff double by Southeast Missouri to keep things quiet in the first inning by getting a couple of groundouts and a flyout to keep things quiet.
UT Martin looked to get off on the right foot as Stoner led off the first with a double to left center and eventually moved to third on a groundout but could not be pushed across the plate.
Southeast Missouri plated six runs in the second inning on four hits, two walks and a hit by pitch but Folks was able to retire the side on a pair of strikeouts and force a groundout. He would also record a pair of whiffs in the third inning, while also making quick work of the fourth and fifth. Blake Davis was able to catch a pair of Redhawks trying to swipe bases, one in the fourth and fifth innings.
The Skyhawks would strike back in the fifth as Whitley got things started with a double to right field. Billy Edwards then singled to put runners at the corners to set up a Stoner two-bagger down the left field line to plate both Whitley and Edwards to narrow the score 6-2.
Hussey made his appearance in the seventh and got to work quickly as he forced a flyout and a foulout before conceding a double and finally another flyout.
Aherin came on in the eighth, forcing a groundout and fanning a pair of Redhawks.
UT Martin would not go down quietly as the bottom of the eighth inning rolled around. Being hit by a pitch, Stoner led off the frame. Aslett then singled through the right side to put runners at the corners just in time for a Collin Edwards single to plate stoner and move Aslett to second. A Davis single through the left side would be enough to score Aslett. Then Whitley stepped up to the plate and belted a homer to left center to give the Skyhawks the lead at a 7-6 margin.
Southeast Missouri struck back in the ninth with a pair of runs to retake the lead and put up the ultimate final score of 8-7.
