The University of Tennessee at Martin softball team will continue its non-conference slate with the team’s fourth tournament appearance of the early schedule, this time traveling to the Ole Miss Classic set to take place Friday, March 2 through Sunday March 4.
The Skyhawks (6-8) will open the tournament field against Chattanooga on Friday at 12:30 p.m. before taking on tournament host No. 17 ranked Ole Miss at 5:30 p.m. UT Martin will then matchup against Southern Miss on Saturday at 10 a.m. before closing out the four-game stay with a contest against Saint Louis on Sunday at 11:30 a.m.
UT Martin is coming off a positive uptick in performance in its last tournament, winning four of its last six contest – including three in the Frost Classic last weekend. The Skyhawks would notch victories over Alabama State, Western Illinois and Chattanooga in the field while posting a .276 batting average and 13 RBIs. The trio of Alicia Hansen (.429), Gracyn McBride (.417) and Jodie Duncan (.400) each posted at least a batting average of .400 for the past week while combining to tally six RBIs.
In the pitching circle, UT Martin is led by sophomore hurler Hannah Ridolfi with a 3-3 overall record and a 1.49 ERA in 37.2 innings of work. Caitlin Karo (3-3, 2.45 ERA) also ranks as the team’s other top arm.
This marks UT Martin’s sixth appearance in the Ole Miss Classic in program history. The Skyhawks hold a 31-45 series mark against tournament foes Chattanooga (6-13), Ole Miss (4-10), Southern Miss (0-1) and Saint Louis (21-21).
