February 27, 2018
MARTIN, Tenn. – The University of Tennessee at Martin’s midweek matchup at Lipscomb has been cancelled while the weekend series against the Cincinnati Bearcats has been moved to Cincinnati, both due to inclement weather.
UT Martin (1-6) is led by Blake Davis (.429 batting average, team-best nine hits and six RBIs), Casey Harford (.320 batting average, two home runs and six RBIs) and Carson Shrode (.389 batting average, two home runs, four RBIs and team-high two doubles) on the offensive side of the ball.
Austen Bullington (0-0, 7.84 ERA) is slated to get the starting nod on Friday. The duo of Peyton Cain (0-1, 7.04 ERA) and Winston Cannon (0-1, 11.17 ERA) are set to split the Saturday starts, Games 1 and 2 respectively. Southpaw Sam Folks (1-1, 9.00 ERA) will pitch the Sunday matchup.
The Skyhawk bullpen has seen some solidification behind the arms of Austin Buzick (0-0, 4.50 ERA and four strikeouts) and Konnor Aherin (0-0, 6.23 ERA and seven strikeouts in just 4.1 innings).
Cincinnati (2-4) is led by Manny Rodriguez, whose .409 batting average, two home runs, one triple and .864 slugging percentage leads the squad. Rodriguez is joined by Cole Murphy (.316 batting average, five RBIs and .526 slugging percentage) in creating a dangerous duo at the plate.
The Bearcats’ rotation for the weekend will be lefty JT Perez (1-1, 4.09 ERA) on Friday, Cam Alldred (0-0, 7.27 ERA) and Nathan Kroger (0-1, 4.32 ERA) splitting the Saturday starts and Sunday’s pitcher is to be determined.
