February 26, 2018
GOODYEAR, Ariz. – The University of Tennessee at Martin golf team completed its spring opener with another under-par effort this morning in the third and final round of the Loyola Intercollegiate held at the Palm Valley Golf Club.
Ross Redmont led things off today by knocking in a birdie putt on his final hole of the second round, which was postponed until this morning because of darkness on Sunday evening. Redmont’s birdie resulted in a 70 (-2) for the redshirt sophomore out of Memphis, Tenn.
The Skyhawks followed with a 285 (-3) in the final round, finishing with a 54-hole score of 855 (-9). UT Martin climbed up the team standings for the third consecutive round, ending in 11th place out of 19 squads from all over the country.
Less than 24 hours after he shot in the 60’s for back-to-back rounds for the first time in his collegiate career, freshman Nick Wolf followed with a bogey-free round today. He began his day with 14 consecutive pars before mixing in two birdies for a 70 in the third round. His three-day total was a 206 (-10), which was good enough for 13th place out of 107 participants.
Hunter Richardson notched a team-best 69 today behind four birdies in the span of six holes against just one bogey. The three-time All-Ohio Valley Conference honoree finished with a 213 (-3) in the tournament.
Redmont and Jack Story each compiled identical scores of 73 this morning. Redmont tied Richardson for the team lead in birdies (four) while Story accounted for 15 pars and one birdie today. Zach Haynes added one birdie during his final round 80 today.
Redmont finished the tournament with a 217 (+1) while Haynes tallied a final score of 227 (+11). Story shot just 3-over in his final 36 holes but finished with a 230 (+14).
UT Martin returns to action in less than two weeks when it proudly hosts the Grover Page Classic, held at the Jackson Country Club in Jackson, Tenn. on March 11-13.
