NO. 10 UTM EQUESTRIAN GETS BACK IN WIN COLUMN, UPENDING NO. 8 SOUTH DAKOTA STATE, 10-6

DALLAS, Texas – The University of Tennessee at Martin’s two-day trip to the Lone Star State concluded with a 10-6 triumph over No. 8 ranked South Dakota State this morning.
The win was the third of the season for the No. 10 ranked Skyhawks, each of which have come against a nationally ranked opponent.
After waiting out a three-hour rain delay, UT Martin edged out South Dakota State by a 5-3 margin in both disciplines. The Skyhawks picked up a clean 4-0 sweep in horsemanship and a 3-1 victory in equitation on the flat. UT Martin added two wins in equitation over fences and one team point in reining.
Lindsay Anderson continued her strong weekend, capturing her first MOP accolade of the season with an 84-point performance in equitation over fences. Abbie Hopkins also tallied a victory in the event with 80 points.
In reining, Noel Meadows came away with a head-to-head win after a 71-point effort.
All four Skyhawks who took part in horsemanship earned a victory. Devon Woods put together a 76-point effort while Bobbie Piddock piled up 73.5 points. Bailey Newlin (67.5 points) and Jade Bleskey (64) rounded out the sweep for UT Martin.
Randi LaChance earned her second MOP of the year in equitation on the flat, accumulating 81 points. Monika Zoromski and Anderson also notched victories with 73 and 59 points, respectively.
The Skyhawks round out the regular season at home on March 15-16, hosting Sweet Briar College for an exhibition and Minnesota-Crookston. Both meets will begin at 10 a.m. at the Ned McWherter Agricultural Pavilion.
