MARTIN, Tenn. – The University of Tennessee at Martin men’s basketball team enters the final week of the regular season looking to keep its postseason hopes alive when it travels to Morehead State on Thursday, Feb. 22 in an Ohio Valley Conference showdown. Tipoff from Johnson Arena is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. CST.

With two regular season games remaining, the Skyhawks (9-20) are battling for the final spot in the upcoming OVC Tournament. UT Martin and Eastern Kentucky are currently tied at 4-12 in league play, trailing SIUE (5-11) by just a single game in the standings.

The Skyhawks will look for revenge stemming from a 71-67 home loss to Morehead State back on Jan. 13. The Eagles shot 60 percent (15-of-25) from the floor in the opening 20 minutes to take a 38-29 halftime lead. UT Martin battled back to lead for a majority of the second half before Lamontray Harris broke a 67-67 tie by scoring the last four points of the game over the final 35 seconds.

Matthew Butler was responsible for a game-high 21 points while Jailen Gill hauled in a double-double (14 points, career-best 12 rebounds) for the Skyhawks in the early season contest against the Eagles. Butler has averaged 26.0 points in two career games against Morehead State, shooting 40.9 percent from three-point land (9-of-22) over that stretch.

The Eagles (6-21, 2-14 OVC) will look to play spoiler in the final week of the season as they are the lone OVC team eliminated from playoff contention so far. Morehead State is in the midst of an eight-game losing skid, including a 108-65 setback at Belmont on Saturday. Leading scorer Jordan Walker - who poured in 26 points against UT Martin last season - led the Eagles with 21 points against Belmont.

Earlier this year against the Skyhawks, the frontcourt duo of Harris (19 points, 11 rebounds) and Londell King (10 points, 11 rebounds) helped Morehead State outrebound UT Martin by a 41-28 margin.

The OVC Digital Network will stream the game live, free of charge. Chris Brinkley (play-by-play) and Alex Boggis (color) will call all of the action live from courtside locally on KYTN 104.9 FM. Those links, as well as links for live stats, are located at the top of the webpage.
