MARTIN, Tenn. – Fatodd Lewis recorded a rare triple-double as the University of Tennessee at Martin generated the second-highest scoring performance in school history in a 127-92 victory over UC Clermont today.

The Skyhawks (3-7) came up just two points shy of the program’s single-game scoring record, set on Dec. 17, 1986 against Miles College. UT Martin’s 50 field goals and 15 three-pointers were also just one make short of all-time school records.

Lewis was one of four Skyhawks to establish new career-highs in the scoring column this afternoon. The redshirt junior forward out of Memphis, Tenn. dialed up career-highs of 34 points, 16 rebounds and 12 assists – joining Lester Hudson (2008), Deville Smith (2015) and Kedar Edwards (2016) as the only players in school history to secure a triple-double.

“It’s not easy to get a triple-double,” UT Martin head coach Anthony Stewart said. “That just shows what kind of player Fatodd is and what he can be. He’s taken on a leadership role this season and he is leading by example.”

Freshman Parrish Hewitt continued his stellar play with career-highs of 29 points, six rebounds, six assists, four steals and three blocks in 37 minutes of play. Jailen Gill corralled his first career double-double (10 points, 10 rebounds) while Lorenzen Wright, Jr. tossed in 12 points off four trifectas. All 10 Skyhawks who saw playing time scored today as Matthew Butler also chipped in 16 points with a game-high eight assists.

UC Clermont (6-4) never led in the contest but had five players score in double-figures. Chase Coomer (22 points), Tommy Bingamon (18), Jamie Carson (15), Trenton Weeks (10) and Chris Johnson (10) heavily pitched in to the Cougar scoring attack as UC Clermont hit 21 three-pointers but was forced into 23 turnovers.

Each of the five Skyhawk starters scored within the first 2:30 of the contest as UT Martin made its first six shot attempts. Darius Thompson swished a three-pointer at the 17:02 mark to provide the Skyhawks with their first double-digit lead of the day at 14-3.

The Cougars pulled within six points with 11:49 remaining in the first half but UT Martin scored 18 unanswered points to create separation. Kahari Beaufort swiped one of his game-high four steals and fed Lewis for an assist on an emphatic dunk that padded the Skyhawk lead out to 47-23.

After UC Clermont trimmed its deficit to 16 points, UT Martin went on a 10-2 run before settling for a 63-49 advantage at the halftime break.

The trio of Lewis (14), Butler (13) and Hewitt (12) were each responsible for double-figures scoring in the first half for the Skyhawks. Coomer had 13 points to pace UC Clermont in the opening 20 minutes.

Terrence Parker sank a hook shot in the lane to begin UT Martin’s scoring in the second half. Butler knocked down a three-pointer with 16:49 left to play to push the Skyhawk advantage out to 77-56.

A little over two minutes later, Jack Engleman made a three-pointer to make the score 84-68 but the Cougars would not get any closer than 16 points the rest of the way. A Hewitt trifecta capped off a 17-3 Skyhawk run that lasted 5:48, resulting in a 101-71 UT Martin advantage.

Parker converted a layup at the 1:06 mark that wrapped up an 11-0 run and gave the Skyhawks their biggest lead of the night at 38 points.

UT Martin will focus on final examination this week before returning to action with a road contest at Mississippi State on Saturday, Dec. 16. Tipoff from Humphrey Coliseum is scheduled for 7 p.m.
