William Tanner

William Tanner is in his first season as a player development coach at UT Martin, assisting with the wide receivers.

Tanner played in 23 games in a Skyhawk uniform from 2014-15 after transferring from Kentucky. As a senior, Tanner tallied 47 catches for 656 yards and five touchdowns. He also served as the team’s punt return specialist, returning 12 punts for 57 yards. In four games he eclipsed the 100 all-purpose yards while notching three 100-yard receiving games against Murray State, Eastern Kentucky and Eastern Illinois. During his junior season, he led the team with 38 catches for 527 yards and four touchdowns.

Before attending UT Martin, Tanner was member of the Kentucky Wildcats for four seasons where he did not see game action. A two-time prep state champion at Montgomery Bell Academy, set school records with 63 receptions, 865 yards and 10 touchdowns as a junior in high school.

Tanner graduated from UT Martin 2016 with a degree in agriculture.
