Clint McMillan enters his first season as defensive line coach at UT Martin.
Before UT Martin, McMillan served as a defensive graduate assistant at Marshall from 2014-16, working primarily with the defensive line unit. During his three seasons with the Thundering Herd, the squad compiled a 26-13 record and one Conference USA championship along with appearances in the Boca Raton Bowl (2014) and St. Petersburg Bowl (2015).
Defensively, Marshall would tally 95 sacks during the three-year span while leading Conference USA in scoring defense (17.8 ppg), pass defense (192.6 ypg), total defense (360.8 ypg) and pass defense efficiency (100.6) in 2015. Meanwhile during the team’s championship run of 2014, the Thundering Herd led the league in scoring defense (21.0) and pass defense efficiency (113.5) along with numerous offensive categories.
During his tenure he assisted in coaching 2014 C-USA Defensive Player of the Year Neville Hewitt and Evan McKelvey along with all-conference selections James Rouse, Darryl Roberts, Arnold Blackmon, Jermaine Holmes and Jarquez Samuel.
Prior to his stint at Marshall, McMillan briefly served on the coaching staff at Weber State as a graduate assistant from 2012-14. Before coming to Weber State, he also spent a couple seasons as a high school football coach in his home state of Florida.
McMillan played four seasons at the University of Florida, appearing in 48 career games at defensive tackle for the Gators. He started in all 13 games as a senior and recorded 23 tackles. In 2006, he was a member of the Gator squad which won the BCS National Championship under head coach Urban Meyer.
McMillan earned a Bachelor’s degree in sociology from the University of Florida in 2007.
