Jessi Woody is in her third season with UT Martin cheerleading, serving as co-head coach alongside her husband, James.
Last season, the Skyhawks earned third place accolades at a National Cheerleaders Association College Camp that was held in Hattiesburg, Miss. UT Martin ranked amongst the best in the field in cheers, chants, stunts, basket tosses and pyramids. At the conclusion of the camp, each participating team took on a Game Day routine in which the Skyhawks brought home the program’s first-ever bronze paid bid to the NCA College Nationals, which took place in Daytona Beach, Fla. on April 5-9, 2017.
UT Martin’s cheerleaders also received a Superior ranking – the highest award given – in their NCA College camp performance of a Rally routine, which consisted of tumbling, stunts, motions and pyramids.
A native of Newport, Tenn., Jessi has 16 total years of cheerleading experience, including seven years of All Star cheerleading. She cheered competitively for four years at the NCA Nationals while at Martin Methodist College and for four years at Cocke County High School.
