Skyhawk Football | Tony Lester - Volunteer Strength and Conditioning
Tony Lester is in his eighth season as a coach at his alma mater, entering his second season as UT Martin's volunteer strength and conditioning coach.
Lester spent six seasons at UT Martin after beginning his coaching career as a graduate assistant under head coach Fred Pickard in 1983. Lester coached the offensive line and special teams while also serving as the team's strength coach.
Lester then spent three years as the defensive coordinator at Westview High School in Martin before coaching for 16 years at Obion Central High School. Throughout his career at OCHS, Lester was the defensive coordinator while also working with the offensive line and serving as strength coach.
Lester also spent three seasons (2007-09) coaching the tight ends at Murray State before returning to UT Martin.
As a player, Lester was a three-year starter at center from 1979-81 under head coaches Vester Newcomb and Lynn Amadee. Lester eas named to the Preseason All-Gulf South Conference team going into his senior season.
A native of Dallas, Ga., Lester graduated with a degree in health from UT Martin in 1982. He also earned his Masters degree in administration from UT Martin in 1988. He has one daughter, Rachel.
